Trollkyrkja (Church of Trolls) lays in the beautyful nature of Trolltindene (not the Trolltindene in Rauma Kommune) right beside the border of Eide County, one of Fræna County`s "neighbours". Trollkyrkja is one of Fræna County`s biggest tourist attractions. We`re not talking about a regular church, something thas has been misunderstood when foreigners has been seen walking their way up the hillside dressed in fur and high heeled shoes.
This is whitestone caves which has been formed by nature into an unusual attraction high up in this mountain. Trollkyrkja was an early marked attraction, at the end of the 1800 century it was announced as an tourist attraction. Every year Trollkyrkja is visited by 4000 visitors, which realy is good numbers since it is a realy good time of walk in rough terrain, only uphills to reach this caves.
The County of Fræna has given the Hunting and fishing accosiation of Fræna (FJFF)- the task to do this attraction aproachable for visitors. FJFF has made an bridge which crosses the Sylte/Moa river .
For those who`s thinking about going there it`s recomended to bring a flashlight, rain clothing and a rope. It is not allowed to use torches inside the caves since this has resulted in that the smoke has made the white caves dirty, so they have been washed beacuse of this! It`s not recomended to explore the minor caves cause they are not being watched over. You should know that exploring this caves is your own responsibility, not that it is of great danger doing so if you only use reasonable sence, choise of hiking gear, and equipment. I`ve been there a couple of times and for those beeing around it is higly recomended to pay a visit.
